Kroger pledges $300,000 to help people affected by deadly shooting at Uvalde Elementary School

Uvalde, Texas – Kroger has pledged $300,000 to the victims’ families and those affected by last week’s deadly shooting at Uvalde Elementary School in Texas, in which two adults and 19 children lost their lives.

Kroger Foundation, Kroger Delivery, and Kroger’s Houston and Dallas divisions all contributed to the donation.

The contribution made by Kroger will be divided into two parts: a donation of $200,000 will be made to the Uvalde Strong Fund, which was established by The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country; and food donations, in cooperation with the San Antonio Food Bank, will make up the remaining $100,000. Uvalde is one of the communities that the food bank serves in South Texas.

Donations may also be made through in-store purchases by customers.

Beginning on Friday, customers will have the option to either pay $1, $5, or $10 to support the relief efforts in Uvalde, or they may round up their purchase to the nearest dollar.

Donations may also be made to coinboxes located at each register, and the money collected will be given to the Uvalde community.
